The feast of Hanukkah celebrates the victory of the Maccabees over the forced Hellenization and religious coercion. It lasts eight days, from December 21 at dusk on 30 December. The events commemorated by the festival are the purification of the Temple desecrated by the Seleucids under Antiochus Epiphanes, in 164 BCE ....
